BAKAR

What is BAKAR?


Thats what you might ask when you will hear this word?

For some its another word for meaningless gossip.

For some its something what you do with friends in your free time during a cup of tea/coffee.

And for the rest of the unfortunate lot, they might not have even heard of this word.


However there is a group of 9 individuals from NIT Durgapur, batch '06, for whom the word BAKAR means religion.

Infact its more than religion.

What do you normally do when you reach office?

Start working/drink coffee/go to your collegues seat?


This group of 9 people do only one thing. They open their mailbox and check for any bakar mails. If there is one, they will respond to it. Else they will start the proceedings for that day. And we do it without fail each and every day.

This group have created a special party for BAKAR. Its called All India Bakar Party (AIBP).

Let me now introduce you to the members of AIBP:

1. Rajat Mahajan : The most prolific BAKAR of all times. His capacity to bug other members of AIBP is commendable. Is now in IIM, Ahmedabad trying to do his masters in the field of bugging people to death.

2. Pulkit Mittal : Probably the originator of BAKAR. He has the ability of coming up with new ideas every morning. Has recently started 'The Bakar Patrika'.

3. Amit Aggarwal : Gives Rajat a tough competition for the most bakar mails. His comments will sometimes make you laugh out so loud that your collegues will think you are crazy.

4. Sarang Shahane : He has only one target while writing his mails. To pick up a fight with another fellow Bakar "Baksi".

5.Santosh Baksi : His mails are truly special. They can only be understood by him. Understanding the language that he uses or his spellings are really out of scope of any other human being. He also has a special liking for cement.

6. Manish Srivastava : He is the 'Neta' of AIBP. He tries to motivate other members by his highly 'imaginative' mails. He is probably the biggest user of the cement created by Baksi.

7. Anup Dangui : He used to be the initiator of Bakar in its early days. He used to start Bakar by his lively Good Morning mails. His mails are very rare nowadays though.

8. Abhijit Mehta : The 'hmmmmm Man'. Wondering what that is? That is his reaction to any mails put to him. His answer to any question that is asked to him. He becomes active in spurts. But when he is active no one else can compete.

9. Trideep Basu : Finally, Yours Truly. Don't have word for myself. I know other members would definitely want to say something.

So these were the members of AIBP.

BAKAR has now completed more than 1.5 years of successful operations. We hope to grow even more despite of our destances and differences. Its our way of keeping in touch and continuing the fun that we used to have during college. We might be getting overloaded with work with each day. Some may have decided decided to pursue higher studies. Others may have shifted jobs. Inspite of all these we hope to continue BAKAR in a bigger way than ever before.
